i love the way everyone gets placed into caste and segregated according to one's academic results.it makes everything look so practical and everything is so pragmetic.Yes the gap between the poor and rich in singapore is small but can the same be said about our education system?we have em1 and em2(em3 shld have been removed by now) at primary 4 followed by after the psle the normal stream ,express and sap follwed by the science and arts stream.alright u guys will know by now what i am hitting at.

Everyday is a ritual we do the same thing day in and day out everything is so mudane with little change or variety to what happens.Adults go to work and others to schools.Everywhere i turn all i see are faces so dull and lifeless the zest in life is so utterly missing. When i take the bus i see the same people at the same time with the same face.
when i saw a neighbour of mine first enter primary school he was filled with this joy, this naive excitement anticipating on what is going to happen. However every subsequent time i see him it seems as if something is siphoning away his energy now that he is in primary 3 he walks to school without that bounce and spring in his step but as though he is weighed down a tonne of bricks.
This probably not unexpected considering that we now live in a society driven to succeed, this mindless machine programmed to reach the pinnacle of the world.Yes i do agree that success is very important but what defines it?wealth?prosperity? Many would say that this is not a price to pay for it shows that to have a ritual such as this the country must first be at peace and this is a good thing.
yes that i agree but is this living the best way?How different are we from zombies? Why should we not just drop dead for there is no meaning in it anymore? As the saying life is not measured by the amt of breath u take in but by the amount of times smth takes ur breath away. And right now we are just drawing in breaths.
we are now merely working because we do what is expected of us.i am not saying that we should all stop working. But we really have to find a meaning in our life we work for the sake of working finding no joy in working. Are we so lost in the race to be NO1 that we have lost sight of how we should lead our life?
Maybe we should take a step back and ask ourself what are we working for and why are we working. We should nt live in a particular way just because someone wants us to. i thinks this is what plagues us because we live not for ourselves and thus lose sight of why we work we lose this enthusiasm and everything becomes mundane.
At this age and time unless we are really driven and passionate to succeed we wld often fall into the background. However how do we get this drive and passion?definitely not by following a path chosen for you but not by yourself.
Maybe all this can only change when we shed the conservative or survival mindset that whatever we do we must aim for the highest pay pocket and actually do what we like and excel in it.
